Yay! Client project! Ok this will definitely be a challenge
considering what we are trying to do with limited time. Welcome to the real
world.
The Killersite message board was indeed interesting. The
content is insightful and each post adds value to the next, they all make
perfect sense. The budget, deadlines, and expectations are all really relevant.
Yet, these posts are from 2005 and the Internet was a much different beast. Being a
big reddit user, old style message boards make me cringe. A relevant subreddit
is: http://www.reddit.com/r/web_design/
Keep it realistic with your goals and deadlines and talk about a budget from the beginning. Do not talk about colors yet.
After the interview with the client, it is time to start
brainstorming. The digital web magazine provided very good and clear insight.
Based solely upon aesthetics and the professional feel for the site, I didn’t
notice that the article was written in 2005… Right away. Dates instantly make
me question the credibility. The content of the site shows me why it is still
relevant. Business needs and user needs are definitely important. Why do you
need this site? Is a very important question, I really like how the author
breaks down two lists, what the user needs and the business needs, and
prioritizes the lists. The real world cases are very helpful.
As for Dreamweaver, I feel like I have a learning disability
when it comes to reading. So I need to make mistakes and just dive into the
code. I learn more from my mistakes then things I do right, so I just want to
dive in and mess stuff up. Lets mess stuff up.
