So we are finally getting into Dreamweaver. The so called "Promise Land" from my peers regarding web designing. They have told me that this is where a person with more of a brain for designing than coding will thrive, which is exactly what I have. My biggest issue with hand coding was having to remember every command on the fly. I was constantly searching for how to bold fonts, the format for inserting links, how to create a border around an image, etc. I feel comfortable with looking at code already written and recognizing what it does, which is what I feel like a lot of the editing in Dreamweaver is like.
Also, I am very happy to know we will be using a book now. I like to have a physical object to reference while I'm working. So let's dive into it. It makes me feel even more comfortable when I read ""Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 Digital Classroom is like having your own expert instructor guiding you through each lesson while you work at your own pace." But honestly, there is no book that could replace or one up our Wendy! (Brown nose extra credit points?) I have experience in Photoshop and Illustrator so I understand the basics of the program that Osborn explains in the first lesson because of how consistent Adobe is with their programs. The compatibility between the programs is also remarkable because as Osborn explains, "you can drag a PSD file into a page within Dreamweaver, optimize the image for the web, and even resize it." If you update that PSD file a red arrow will appear on the photo in Dreamweaver, which is something I didn't know and is very useful. This would come in handy if there are multiple people working on a website and they each edit photos and such. This has potential to be a huge convenience.
So needless to say, I am very excited for the client-based assignment and to just use Dreamweaver.
