Response 7

Being a student heavily interested in the design aspect of well, everything, the useful usability and guidelines article engaged me the most. Most of the information that was given in this article was common knowledge but gave further insights as to why people use websites the way they do. A piece of information that surprised me in the article was they said "quality of design is an indicator of credibility". This is a concept that is overlooked when working with content creators. Content creators often feel that design is the easy stuff and doesn't effect how users actually use. In the article it clearly states that the quality of design affects first impressions, reliability and overall the usability of the content. As a designer I value these useful usability findings and guidelines because they give a clear format of how website aspects should be used.

The other articles included some more basics of coding language. In the article HTML 5 Doctor: Boilerplates, I am confused as to what a boilerplate even is (google didn't help much either: Boilerplates: Noun 1. Rolled steel for making boilers. 2. Smooth, overlapping, and undercut slabs of rock....wtf). As for the rest of the articles I am also still confused (these acronyms are killing me!). However, I am hoping that as in the past, the class discussion will clear up some of this confusion.
