Colors: that’s what this reading was all about.
Obviously colors are important to web design; their
important to design in general. The right colors can not only make a website
look nice but also make sure your website is usuable in general.
The reading went over basic concepts such as the color
wheel, color theory, and color harmony. While the text was very informative I
liked all the examples that some of the readings gave. It’s always interesting
to see how other colors have used and then broken some rules about color use. I
particularly liked the ones that seemed to flip the ideas of whitespace; as in
the whitespace was not a light color. While there are definatly ‘do not do this’
rules in using color it’s also amazing just how many things you can do with the
right pallet.
One thing I noticed that the best websites kept in mind is
that while you will want to have the color make your website aesthetically
pleasing you do not want to let it get in the way of using your website. Even
the most artistically creative examples seemed to be extremely useable sites.
