So we’re getting into CSS and HTML! I’m excited, at least.
I saved the tutorials for later use but read through the
first page. It has been ages since I’ve used CSS so I remember very little of
it – so I have a feeling that is the one where I will be struggling. CSS is
used to effect the structure of my content within the HTML code, so it will be
a helpful thing to know. It is also, to my understanding, widly universal on
the web so it will almost always be supported. I did not know the history
behind CSS – the idea of layout verses strutucre – and that was actually pretty
interesting. I’ve programmed more extensively using HTML but it has been a while.
“Getting Started” was a good read and will be saved; when it comes to coding I’ve
learned it’s best to not try and memorize everything you should know but have
things available for references.
The most interesting read was the Groke pieces and the idea
of thinking as an artist, an engineer, and a writer when programming. I don’t
think I was quite the audience for this – the writer part of this spoke more to
me then the idea of being an artist – but that didn’t mean this wasn’t helpful.
Its always good to be reminded how in depth coding is. It’s more then just
getting something to appear on a browser.
