After a busy day full of no school and lots of snow (oh, and getting evacuated from my apartment due to some bursting water pipes...) it was a pleasant surprise to sit down and read through a few articles on colors and how they affect people's thoughts and portray different moods. I already knew the basics of the associated moods with colors, like red and anger or love, orange and energy, green and jealousy and so on. These articles, especially the one from Smashing Magazine, really went in depth about the details of colors though, which I found extremely interesting.
When designing a web page, color seems like it would be one of the last of my worries, but it also seems like it should be an important thing to take into consideration. In reality, the colors one chooses for a website deeply effects the audience and how they view the page, perhaps even more directly than the content itself. One thing that I look forward to and think could be a bit of a challenge is determining the mood or the tone of my future website and being able to convey that mood in the colors.
One thing that limits the whole argument of colors is people who can't see colors. How would not being able to see colors effect how they view a website (or anything), if even at all?
All in all, it's interesting how colors can have such a big impact on how we feel about things. This will be very important when designing websites and can truly make or break the way an audience views it.
