*rough* Draft

Alrighty folks, here's my *rough* DRAFT....well an explanation of my draft. It's very simple, but I need to keep it that way or I will get in over my head in coding and html. I've learned from my past mistakes, so this time, although it may give my visual designer side a sour taste in the mouth, it will only help my coder side!

Please, tear it apart.

p.s. if the text is too small to read use the command/control +  (+) function!

Thanks!

Sam

  1. Interesting ideas, Sam. I like the colors you chose; on the darker side, but I think they all work well together. I noticed you have some worries about being able to code your ideas. Your idea does go outside of XHTML and into the realm of CSS; remember, CSS is more for the design of your website, while XHTML builds it. It would be doable, but you would have to be willing to look into CSS (also, Wendy would have to be okay with us using CSS in our first website).

  2. Thanks for the feedback Annette! And yes, CSS, I need to remember that that's where all the design happens.I guess for this first one, I'll really just work on the structure.*ugh*.as you can tell, this ("this," referring to structure) is something that has been pretty difficult for me. All I want to do is focus on is the design and not always the core functions. But I will definitely keep in mind that once we can incorporate CSS into our websites I will have more freedom with the design aspect of everything.

  3. Samantha,

Hey nice work. I like the amount of thought and effort you put into your layout.
For some reason I can see your layout on a smartphone... In my opinion it is a good thing.
I could very well see the "simple" version as being the home page and when you hover over each button, the image willl appear, giving a more dynamic user experience.

I have to write some more so I'll be back...

  4. Ok I am back, I thought I could edit my last post but..
The only thing I think is the background color. It goes better when it is with the pictures but when it is with the fonts and buttons, they are clashing. Maybe use Kuler with one of the photos to create a color scheme.. Good job though.
