The World Wide Web is truly a remarkable thing when I really sit down and think about it, especially after I sat down with Kazmierski's take on the development of it. The first thing that hits me is how in the world can someone make hyperlinks and all the protocols for various things on the Internet? Sure, I'm extremely inexperienced when it comes to programming and such, but I guess that's why I'm taking this course as well as a different computer programming course this semester.
I've known the Internet and the World Wide Web my whole life. I've never lived without it. Just thinking about life without the Internet is quite strange to me. Thinking about how guys like Bush and Nelson developed such a complex thing as Memex and Xanadu, which eventually led to the World Wide Web, blows my mind. Although I can see the demand for such networking as the World Wide Web, I just can't come to understand the process. I hope that this class will help me understand it better in the weeks and months to come.
How does this history influence how you understand the content on the WWW?
